We’re going to have to let you go. You should get on JibberJobber right now, and you should check out the Corona Labs Point Haired Boss competition!
I got an email from Corona Labs asking me if I would share this with you. It is pretty cool. Kind of makes me wish I was a mobile developer, just to have fun with this competition. If you know someone this applies to, please share it with them. There are great reasons to do this, one is so you can substantiate yourself (one of the most important things I learned in my job search).
Dilbert and Corona Labs have created a competition to see who can create the best Dilbert mobile game. Every recently laid-off developer will receive a free one-year subscription to Corona SDK Pro just for entering the competition – a gift worth $599.This competition gives laid off developers a chance to enhance their portfolio and create a game that will help them adapt to this new mobile world. Even if the developer doesn’t win, he or she will still have a mobile game for their portfolio, and a full year to work on their mobile coding skills – for free.
And if it’s a really great game, the winner has a chance to create a blockbuster game that will be promoted and marketed under a major global brand, and potentially distributed by a major phone manufacturer.
Under this competition, the only thing a developer needs to bring is his or her creativity. Corona Labs will provide everything needed to create the mobile game, including the Dilbert artwork, a consumer-friendly platform for game developers of all skill levels and the global marketing power of the Dilbert name.
The winning game will be personally selected by the creator of Dilbert – Scott Adams – and potentially featured by a major phone manufacturer. Corona Labs will also be giving away ten 1-year Corona SDK Pro subscriptions, each valued at $599 and smaller prizes like iTunes gift cards as awards.
